Nestled against the rocky cliffs and lapped by the waters near Aiguebelle Beach in the charming commune of Le Lavandou, once a quaint fishing village in the Var region, Hotel Les Roches marks the revival of a legendary Côte d’Azur establishment. Offering an unrivalled panorama of the Îles d’Or and perched upon the rocky inlets of Peire Gouerbe, famed for their crystalline waters, the hotel unfolds onto the sea like a cruise ship in motion. The story of Les Roches began in the 1930s when, under the name ‘Roches Fleuries’, it soon became a refined summer retreat for high society. Among its distinguished guests were Humphrey Bogart and Lauren Bacall, Jean Cocteau, Christian Dior, and Winston Churchill. Fleeing the rise of Nazism, German Nobel Laureate Thomas Mann sought refuge there with his family in 1933. Later, in 1957, French author Françoise Sagan made it her retreat whilst filming Bonjour Tristesse in Le Lavandou. Today, Hotel Les Roches emerges anew with the ambition of offering a five-star experience that embodies its rich heritage, where modern French art-de-vivre meets refined elegance as it preserves and enhances the site’s extraordinary natural beauty.
